Winner for Kill-A-Watt Power Monitor Announced

Congratulations are in order to a frequent commenter on this site, Arild.  He won the drawing for the P4400 Kill-a-Watt power monitor.  The drawing was announced near the end of thePower Budgets [4] data you can use" rel="bookmark" href="../genverters/power-budgets-4-data-you-can-use/"> Power Budgets [4] data you can use article.   At this time I would also like to thank him for his many technical comments that add depth and clarification to many of the posts here.  In one, he indicated that he had inverter design experience for one of the major players in that industry.

Remember, read through each post completely as we try to include little Easter egg prizes or gifts to readers on occasion around here. :)

Once again I put the P4400 power meter to good use.The wife found a small coffee maker rated 300 watts at a yard sale. She asked if she could run it on my little Xantrex power pack with a 300 watt inverter. Sure I said, then suggested we try it as a test while plugging in the power meter. Sure enough the water boiled and total consumption was 0.02 kilowatt hour. She runs a hot dog wagon in a location that has no electrical power. So now she can make hot chocolate on a cold day.

It is one of those little one cup coffee makers. We forgot to time it but it was approimately 5 minutes certainly less than 10 minutes. We have some of the Old Xantrex power packs with a 300 watt inverter on the outside and a 20 A-H sealed battery inside. This particular pack is 10 years old and has seen a lot of deep cycle service to the point of total 100% DoD
Amanda wanted to be able to make a cup of coffee since the hot dog steamer is not convenient for brewing coffee on.
