Power Saving Tip for Electronics

Here’s a tip hat we’ve been doing for many years.  I work hard to capture solar energy and minimize the money for oil companies, so I like to say; a watt-hour saved is a watt-hour earned.  Most folks may not even know that many electronic appliances have an instant-on feature.  Our satellite receiver does, the TVs do, and even dvd/vcr players.  A small investment in a handful of power strips can minimize this issue.  When we use the TV, we turn on its power strip first.   All these little loads of 10 Watts and there add up all night long and when appliances are not in use.  This is and important factor to be aware of when creating your Power Budget.  Living off grid full time I’ve worked hard to train my family to always turn off ‘the power strip’.  No one likes it when dad wakes up and finds stuff left on.
